BEVERLY HILLS - The Wings
Grief Support Team of Hospice of Citrus
County presented “Renewal: A Service
of Hope and Healing” on Tuesday, November
13 at 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm at Hunter Springs
Park in Crystal River and again on
Wednesday, November 14 at 2:00 pm at Liberty
Park in Inverness. More than 150
individuals attended the services. The
outdoor events provided those experiencing
grief the ability to find comfort and peace,
hope and healing, while honoring the lives
of loved ones who have died.
“The
cycle of our grief is a naturally occurring
event. As we cycle, we may discover
that the experience can be unpredictable,
that it is not always orderly, and that its
intensity, length and duration may vary.
We need to give ourselves permission to use
the skills of movement, suspension,
surrender, and creation to both experience
and express these differences in our own
unique way. In this way, we invite healing
into our lives.” Renewal Service
.
The
interactive, non-denominational service was
written by Wings Grief Support Team
Counselors. The Service utilized the analogy
of the ocean tides…
“In
life, nature regulates the oceans through
the cycle of tides. Our grief also
experiences a similar cycle of ebbs and
flows. Today we use the cycle of tides
to express our experiences in the process of
our grief. We encourage you to join us
on this voyage. During each tide we
will invite you to come forward and speak
the name of your loved one. In this
way we honor them.” Renewal Service
Jonathan
Beard
, Wings Grief Services Manager for Hospice
of Citrus County stated, “The
Service stimulated our hearts and minds, and
provided our community an excellent
opportunity for reflection and renewal.
We were proud to offer this free
service to our community and we look forward
to offering it in a variety of settings
frequently in the future for their
benefit.”

“The storm has passed. The
clarity of the water allows me to see. To
see those obstacles I have already
navigated, and to be aware of some that lie
ahead.”
